The SADC Seed Centre partners with seed stakeholders to implement the SADC Harmonized Seed Regulatory System. The SADC HSRS includes Variety Registration and Release, Seed Certification and Quality Assurance, and Quarantine and Phytosanitary Measures for Seed.
The Centre’s mission is to facilitate seed trade between SADC Member States and ensure the supply of high-quality seed in the SADC region with a focus on food security and poverty alleviation.
At the SADC Seed Centre, we provide services that support the three systems under the SADC HSRS. The Centre maintains the SADC Seed Variety Catalogue and Database, provides technical backstop to NSAs, and much more.
Tilabilenji Phiri is the recently appointed SADC Seed Coordinator.
There are many seed stakeholders covering everything from policy to production to distribution.
The SADC Seed Centre is a proud partner of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
